I started these last night and finished them today. They took less than 2 hours from start to finish. Very easy. I was inspired by http://www.make-your-own-baby-stuff.c
Here are photos from nearly each step, if you are interested:( Read more... )
As the presents pile up, I'm noticing a lot of really gorgeous holiday ribbons (the lovely fabric and fabric/wire kind) tied around the packages.
Anybody have any ideas as how to reuse these (other than wrapping for next year)? They're probably no longer than 1-2 ft each, varying widths, and none really matching except that they're holiday-ish in theme.
Asking in advance because I probably won't keep them if I can't think of a way to use them again. THANKS!
I just finished my first attempt at crayon tinting with embroidery. I've been doing embroidery for a long time but just found out about crayon tinting. I really like it. Obviously I'm going to need to practice with it a little bit but it's a great way to add color. I used this tutorial, it's pretty easy: http://www.urbanthreads.com/pages?id=44

Something I was working on in my silversmith class for a long time, finally finished it after deciding on the mechanics of how it would be threaded and how it would sit.
( lunar necklace )
It is made from silver wire, sheet and tube and there is also some brass tubing to give it colour and more depth...
A few more gifts I've completed for Christmas.

This is my second completed amigurumi project. I’m pretty happy with it. I’ll be giving it to my aunt for Christmas. Ravelry Project.

You can crochet one of these ornaments in five mins. if you need a last minute gift!
Merry Christmas, everyone!!
When you embroider a hankie, what happens to the backside?
Do you just leave it with all the messy back work or ???
Thanks!
I had time on my hands today and couldn't sew because my machine is busted, so I tried paper craft instead! I'm pleased with the way it turned out, being my first attempt and all. It's a card for my friend who is getting married in Vegas tonight.

My most recent project
Pattern is a scallop scarf from LionBrand website, adjusted for thinner yarn and made longer:

( FAUX gingerbread house, t-shirt, disembodied snowman heads... )
For my mum's birthday I embroidered her house and garden. She loved it! And I was quite proud of my first actual embroidery.
Also, made some monster toys for my bf's nieces and a knitted scarf (from fabric strips) for my mum.

Today, at the craft store, I bought a pack of white dishtowels to embroider/cross-stitch.
So, I'm looking for World of Warcraft embroidery patterns, or drawings that would easily translate to a pattern. This is definitely something I could do myself (and will be doing for myself), but I would love to see the different perspectives other players have on cool things from the game. Locations, buildings, maps, abilities, gear, items, just-for-fun gear and items, recipes, characters, mobs, NPCs of all sorts, symbols?
I'm a Tauren hunter, so I'm going to be looking at Tauren stuff and pet stuff, as well as the Horde symbol, but I'd love to see what you all come up with!
If you do WoW crafts (and I know some of you do), post them!

I recently got a new car (a B.A. Station Wagon, thank you) and I'm working on pimpin' it out, so to speak.
I checked the memories and I couldn't find anything specifically relating to it, so I was wondering:
What are some fairly cheap ways you've tricked out your rides?
haha. And I'm talking cute, awesome, funky, crafty ways you've made your vehicles your own.
Not just Wal*Mart seat covers and dice in the mirror.
I was at a friend's house and she had a lovely table runner crocheted by her grandmother in crochet cotton. I looked closely at it, and noticed that most of the stitches were double crochet and chain stitches; simple!
Actually, not so much. All the rows were stitched in the same direction; that is, it didn't look like she turned her work between rows. The fronts of all the stitches were on the same side of the table runner. Is that even possible without cutting the thread and starting over on each row? Is there such a thing as a reverse double crochet stitch that looks just like the regular double crochet? I couldn't see evidence that each row started over with a new piece of thread; It really didn't look like there were tails woven in the ends of every row (God forbid!).
A last minute handmade Christmas gift for a coworker.

All of the fabric is either leftovers from other projects, recycled, purchased at a 2nd-hand store, discount ends or out of the 3-for-1 bin at the fabric store. All of the stuffing was purchased at various 2nd-hand stores as well. Don't worry, I only used the unopened bags!

Hi everyone, I hope this type of thing is allowed. I have been knitting for a while but I'd like to start crocheting. I can do a basic chain stitch, but unfortunately I can only figure out how to get one row done. Once I am done with my row, how do I turn around to get another row going?
If you know of any good tutorials online or on YouTube I would appreciate it so much. Thanks!
